Not calling for a nerf here, just wanting to share something with the group. And, in the spirit of lowsec solo pvp...
If you fit out a Comet with an active armor tank, web, nos and neutrons, you get a good tank lots of dps speedy solo machine. If you fit the DD the EXACT same way - minus the neutrons to ions because the DD doesn't have as much CPU or PG - the only noticable difference stat-wise is 10 more dps and 100-someodd m/s more from the DD.
The real distinguishing thing about the daredevil is, obviously, it's web bonus, which is a great bonus for sure.
In a nutshell, the Comet, IMO, is the most OP navy faction frig in the game.

I am just surprised at how effective the Comet it is as a blaster/armor ship; it does not need to kite other frigates like the Slicer and Hookbill to be effective.

I wasn't calling for a nerf here; I just wanted to share with the public that the Comet is a very good option as a soloownmobile if you're training for a Daredevil or Ishkur or just wanna use something different; I was genuinely surprised at how effective a blaster boat it is; if the Comet got a 90% web bonus it would be better than a Daredevil/equal. Can you say that about the slicer?

Speed rigs reduce your armor hp, armor rigs reduce your speed, and it's almost impossible to fit a damage rig to a faction ship, whereas CCCs will give two-three extra armor reps throughout a brawl (quite important if you're fighting multiple enemies) without any drawbacks at all.

That fit is actually pretty lols-worthy. Nano on a Gal ship and armor rigging on an armor tanking ship? :S

Huh? I fit that Ishkur to be as close to your Comet as possible and it indeed does except inherited speed advatnage - Ishkur still has about same tank and DPS.
In the light of what I just said, your statement makes you look pretty stupid...
How about fit a ship building upon it's strengths so that it can kill other ships in it's class instead of trying to make it compare to Comet hmm?

I was in mwd fit even.. granted the fight was close (and awesome), but if a succubus can win....
Well flown Succubus with Scorch and AB + web obviously just kites that setup and chews through you or neuts out your active tank... not a huge deal.
